On Thursday, John Robb, author of Brave New War and the blog Global Guerrillas, spoke before the House Armed Services Subcommittee regarding Terrorism, Unconventional Threats and Capability on Terrorism and the New Age of Irregular Warfare. For anyone interested in the nature of future conflict and the seriousness of the types of threats currently faced by not only the United States but the security of the international system in general, it is a must read. Pay close attention to Robb's characterization of the nation-state as a failing institution and the growth of a global Supernetwork that has become a "dynamically unstabe system that is too large, fast, and complex for any nation-state or collection of nation-states to control."
